Dear fellow investors, friends, family and future self.

This update comes out later than usual because I prioritized helping my brother doing garden work around an investment property he bought recently.

The property has 3000 m2 of land and it needs a lot of work. The outside area has not been maintained for years. It was filled with weeds well above waist level when he bought it. Plants, trees and bushes were fighting each other to reach the sun light.

It took us a while to get down to the soil of this place. Access to heavy duty machinery is a necessity.

We’re already progressing nicely. I think he’ll be able to flip the house within a year or two and make a respectable amount of money from the renovation.

It’s lovely to be in Denmark when the weather is warm and sunny. Especially with close family nearby.

Next month we’ll be moving back to Portugal. Flight tickets have been booked and we already secured a 12 month lease contract on a house. While it’ll be sad to part with those close to us, I look very much forward to seeing our friends in Portugal again.

I hope everything will work out for us even though we haven’t reached financial independence by most frequently used measurements. Combined assets worth just shy of 500k EUR is really not much for a family of 5. But we LOVE our freedom to be able to live our lives as we want. Maybe I’ll start a business dealing with real estate in Portugal, that would be fun.

The future is unknow but I’m sure the universe has something exciting in store for us. I look forward to journey and living the adventure with my girls.

Here’s the overview of my finances from last month:

Dear fellow investors, friends, family and future self.

April was the month where I started to look more seriously into the world of crypto currencies. I’ve been following the sector on the sidelines since 2015 but I’ve always seen crypto as pure speculation. I see myself as an investor, not a speculator. For this reason, I’ve held a small amount of coins to test the technology but never invested larger amounts.

However, some things have improved during the last year, which has changed my view a bit: Continue reading “Portfolio update April 2021”

Dear fellow investors, friends, family and future self.

It’s April 8th today. According to the calendar it should be spring. Nature in Denmark doesn’t seem to agree though, we had hail and snow just yesterday. I can’t wait to move back to the warm and sunny climate in Portugal. Seeing the sun on a daily basis gives a huge burst to my well being.

My investment property #3 was bought on March 15th as planned. We live in the property while it’s being renovated. It’s not ideal, we don’t even have access to our own shower. But we manage and find alternative solutions. It’s a good way to save some money along the way.

I think I finally found a tenant for the apartment that has been vacant since March last year! We have a verbal agreement and I expect the tenant to move in on April 15th. It took about 6 months to finish the renovation of this apartment (due to Covid-19 and other factors) but 1 year vacancy is way too long.

In March I decided to withdraw a portion of my crowdlending portfolio, primarily because I want to see if I can earn better returns on the stock market. As a result my portfolio is much more balanced now, as you can see on my “Net Worth” page. I now have about 1/3 in crowdlending, 1/3 in stocks and 1/3 in real estate. I’m much more comfortable with this allocation.

Dear fellow investors, friends, family and future self.

March has arrived and spring is just around the corner. I can’t wait to feel the heat of the sun and walk barefoot outside!

I’m in the process of revamping this blog. My goal is to provide better value with less information. As I’m investing more and more into equities that doesn’t produce monthly cash flow, I think it makes sense to track my net worth instead of cash flow. This will also give you full insight into my economy including cash and stocks. My first goal is to reach 1 000 000€.

I will soon create a table which shows all my stocks, incl. buy date, buy price, ticker, exit date etc. Until then, make sure to follow me on Twitter @FinanciallyFr33 to get alerts when I make changes to my stock portfolio.

Some good news: Investment property #3 will be added to my portfolio on March 15th. Continue reading “Portfolio update February 2021”

Dear fellow investors, friends, family and future self.

First month of 2021 has passed! Time flies when you’re having fun, doesn’t it?

I’m thinking about revamping this blog. I’ll continue doing the monthly updates but it would be nice to bring more value in a shorter post. As a first step to cut down time spent doing these updates, I’ve deleted the savings rate and removed the monthly quote.

Next month I might not put the individual “monthly earnings graphs” into the update. They’ll still be available on individual pages in the Crowdlending menu. Maybe I’ll also delete the investment history and replace it with a page that shows the stocks I buy, entry point, target price for selling etc.

I spend most of my days following the stock market and searching for good investment opportunities, so I think it makes sense to bring more of this into the blog.

A friendly follower reached out and suggested that I could make a graph which shows the difference between deposited value and account value. It’s a great suggestion and I’ll probably make it. Any other ideas or suggestions? Let me know in the comments below!
